Sir Jim Ratcliffe Completes Purchase of Stake in Manchester United
The deal involving Sir Jim Ratcliffe acquiring a 25% share in Manchester United has been finalized. The transaction, valued at around $1.3 billion (£1.03 billion), sees the British billionaire stepping into ownership alongside the Glazer family who have held control over the prestigious English club since 2005.
While retaining a majority stake, Ratcliffe’s Ineos Group will now oversee football operations at Manchester United. Expressing his sentiments on this development, Ratcliffe remarked, “To become co-owner of Manchester United is a great honor and comes with great responsibility.”
Looking ahead, he added optimistically, “This marks the completion of the transaction but just signals the commencement of our journey towards restoring Manchester United to its former glory in English, European, and global football; equipped with world-renowned facilities for our loyal fanbase.”
Ratcliffe also emphasized that efforts to achieve these ambitious goals would intensify starting from today as he envisions a bright future for one of football’s most iconic clubs.
