Antony’s availability for FA Cup final looks promising, says Manchester United.

Manchester United’s Anthony Likely to Recover from Ankle Injury for FA Cup Final

In a recent press conference, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag expressed his optimism that winger Antony would recover in time for the upcoming FA Cup final against Manchester City. The Brazilian suffered an ankle injury during Thursday’s match against Chelsea and was taken off on a stretcher in tears.

Ten Hag stated that although it is quite soon after his injury, they believe it isn’t too severe and he will probably be available to play. This news comes as a relief to both fans and management alike as Antony has been instrumental this season with eight goals and three assists since joining United from Ajax last September for £81m.

An Impressive Start Followed by Setbacks

The young winger had missed the last eight games of Ajax’s campaign due to an ankle injury sustained while playing in March’s World Cup qualifier match for Brazil. However, since recovering and joining United, he has made an impressive start to his Premier League career.

Despite initial setbacks earlier this year, including testing positive for COVID-19 back in January, Antony bounced back quickly upon return. With numerous standout performances under his belt so far this season, many were eagerly anticipating seeing him take on their cross-town rivals next Saturday at Wembley Stadium.

The Importance of Antony Against Manchester City

If fit enough to play come game day – which seems likely – Antony could prove himself crucial once again given the strength of opposition they are facing. Pep Guardiola’s side have won two consecutive Premier League titles over the past few years thanks largely due to their formidable attack led by Sergio Agüero and Gabriel Jesus.

Antony’s pace and skill on the wing will be vital in breaking down Manchester City’s defense. The Red Devils have already beaten their rivals twice this season, once in the Premier League and another time in the Carabao Cup semi-finals.

    The Road to Wembley

This FA Cup final is a crucial match for both teams as it marks a chance to end their seasons on a high note. Manchester United currently sit second in the Premier League table behind City with only one game remaining. They also recently secured a spot in next year’s Champions League after finishing top of their group.

Meanwhile, Manchester City are still aiming to achieve an incredible domestic treble as they face Chelsea later this month for the Champions League Final. With such high stakes at play, it promises to be an intense showdown between these two top-flight clubs.
