Buick to partner with Boughey’s promising young racehorses at prestigious Royal Ascot event

Buick to Ride Boughey’s Top Two-Year-Olds at Royal Ascot

William Buick has been confirmed as the jockey for George Boughey’s top two-year-olds in next week’s Royal Ascot. Asadna and Soprano are both among the favorites in their respective races, with Asadna set to compete in the Coventry Stakes and Soprano gearing up for the Albany Stakes.

The two-year-olds have been putting in great work on the watered Rowley Mile gallop, with Classic-winning trainer George Boughey confident about his preparations for the five-day meeting where he is expected to field around 20 runners. “The two-year-olds will probably be leading the charge,” said Boughey.

    Asadna

Asadna is one of the favorites vying for favoritism alongside River Tiber after an impressive 12-length debut success at Ripon under Buick. He appears to have thrived since then and worked well during a recent racecourse gallop. “He looked very good this morning…He would go there with a good chance,” said Boughey.

Buick added that “His prep for Ascot has gone very well…he was very impressive when he won and he has very good credentials.”

    Soprano

The Highclere-owned filly, Soprano comes fresh from landing a hot five-furlong maiden at Newmarket, having her form franked when runner-up Midnight Affair took Hilary Needler at Beverley on Saturday. She worked upsides Asadna ahead of Friday week’s Albany bid where she currently ranks second favorite behind Jabaara.

The Team Completes with Graceful Thunder and Muqtahem

Graceful Thunder, who took a five-furlong Sandown novice on debut under Kevin Stott will head to the Queen Mary. Boughey’s juvenile team is completed by Muqtahem, who showed promise on debut before scoring at the second attempt at Pontefract. He breezed nicely under Pat Cosgrave and heads to Windsor Castle.

Boughey said that “The two-year-olds are still learning… Asadna, Soprano, Muqtahem, Graceful Thunder – they are all going to their respective races and it was all pretty straightforward work but they all pleased me.”

In conclusion, Buick’s booking as jockey for Boughey’s top two-year-olds has been well received ahead of Royal Ascot next week where they are expected to put in a strong performance.
