Caerphilly to be the finale destination for Tour of Britain until 2023

Welsh Town of Caerphilly to Host Eighth Stage of the 2021 Tour of Britain

The Tour of Britain will return to Caerphilly after ten long years on Sunday, September 10th, with the Welsh town hosting the eighth and final stage. The event is set to feature an exciting double ascent of Caerphilly mountain before finishing in the town center.

Caerphilly has previously featured three times as a stage finish location, with an estimated 10,000 spectators lining the streets for its last appearance a decade ago. This year’s edition promises even more excitement as over one million fans are expected to line up along different routes across Greater Manchester, north Wales, Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire Suffolk and Essex starting from September 3rd.

The race organizers have signed a four-year deal with Welsh Government that will see them alternate between Grand Depart or finish locations for both Tours (Tour and Women’s) through until 2026. Mick Bennett- Race Director said: “Together with our partners at Welsh Government we wanted this year’s stage eight route would combine sporting drama whilst visiting new areas.”

New Route Design For Added Excitement

This year’s route offers cycling enthusiasts something special – two challenging climbs up Caerphilly Mountain. The magnificent backdrop provided by historic Caerphilly Castle will make crossing the finishing line all-the-more spectacular for riders aiming to conquer the grueling climb.

As well as providing sports entertainment value, this prestigious event also serves to put Caerphilly on an international map; attracting visitors from far wide who might otherwise never have thought about it!

A Unique Opportunity To Explore South Wales

Cycling fans looking for adventure can explore some beautiful and picturesque locations around south Wales during the event. The race route will take them through some of the most scenic areas, including historic castles, countryside villages and spectacular mountain landscapes.

Despite being a global sports event that attracts some of the biggest names in cycling from across the world, Tour of Britain offers an opportunity to enjoy local tourism while experiencing world-class sporting action at its best.
