Calvin Ramsay Joins Championship Club Preston North End on a Season-long Loan
The 19-year-old Liverpool right-back, Calvin Ramsay, has joined the Championship club, Preston North End for a season-long loan. Although he signed from Aberdeen in June 2022, injuries kept him out of most games during his first campaign with Liverpool.
Ramsay expressed his delight at joining Preston and said that playing time was his main priority. “The Championship is a top league and the main thing for me is trying to get game time,” he said. “I’m going to be able to do that at a good club. I can’t wait to get started.”
Initially hampered by back problems following his move to Liverpool last summer, Ramsey underwent surgery in February this year after which he missed the rest of the season. Ramsey made only two appearances for Liverpool during their past campaign – against Napoli and Derby County in November – before being sidelined due to injury.
Limited Opportunities at Anfield:
Ramsey’s injury woes restricted his chances under Jurgen Klopp last season as he struggled for fitness throughout the Premier League campaign.
The Scottish international defender was handed just one start across all competitions with Trent Alexander-Arnold firmly established as Klopp’s preferred option at right-back while Neco Williams also provided cover when required.
