Celtic in discussions with ex-manager Brendan Rodgers for potential return to club

Celtic in Advanced Talks with Brendan Rodgers for Managerial Role

In what could be a major turn of events, Celtic Football Club is reportedly in advanced talks with the former boss, Brendan Rodgers. The Northern Irishman has already had a successful stint at Parkhead and could return to take up the managerial role again.

The Scottish champions have been looking for a replacement since Ange Postecoglou left this summer to join Tottenham Hotspur. Although there have been other potential candidates, Celtic’s priority is believed to be securing Rodgers’ services once again.

Rodgers was sacked by Leicester City earlier this year before they were ultimately relegated from the Premier League but enjoyed a fruitful spell during his first tenure at Celtic. Between 2016 and 2019, he won seven consecutive domestic trophies including an unbeaten debut domestic campaign and back-to-back trebles.

However, his departure midway through the 2018/19 season didn’t go down well with every fan. Some supporters unfurled banners criticizing him for lack of loyalty towards the club despite making it clear that he was lifelong supporter of Celtic.

Rodgers spent four years leading Leicester City where he helped them win their first FA Cup final against Chelsea last season while also taking them into European football including reaching Europa Conference League semi-finals.
