Experienced International Duo Departs Worcester Warriors Women’s Team
Experienced Wales Internationals Leave Worcester Warriors Women
In a surprising development, experienced Welsh rugby players Sioned Harries and Caryl Thomas have left Worcester Warriors Women. Harries had been with the Premier 15s side for five seasons while Thomas joined in 2020.
While Thomas retired from international rugby recently, she has also decided to hang up her boots at the club level. In contrast, Harries is looking for another team to join.
Their departure marks an end of an era as both players have played in four Rugby World Cups for Wales and amassed a total of 139 caps between them.
Turbulent Season
Last season was indeed tough on Worcester Warriors women’s team who were suspended from playing after the parent club went into administration last September. Despite this setback, Jo Yapp’s side showed resilience throughout the season with their draw against Harlequins securing a sixth-place finish.
“I’ll forever be grateful for all the support and belief they gave me as both a player and person,” said Harries about her time at Worcester Warriors Women.
“Rollercoaster seasons I’ll never forget, and friends made for life.”
