Injury sidelines Burnley winger Luca Koleosho for an extended period

Burnley Suffers Blow in Premier League Relegation Battle

In a devastating setback for Burnley’s hopes of avoiding relegation from the Premier League, teenage sensation Luca Koleosho has been sidelined for several months, according to manager Vincent Kompany.

The 19-year-old winger had been a standout performer for Burnley this season despite their struggles, having lost 12 out of their 15 league games so far. Unfortunately, Koleosho sustained an injury during their recent match against Wolves and was forced to leave the pitch after just 36 minutes.

“This is certainly bad news for us; he will be out of action for quite some time,” expressed Kompany. “While we are optimistic that he may still return before the end of the season, it is more likely to happen towards the latter stages.”

Koleosho, known for his lightning-fast pace and representing Italy at under-21 level, joined Burnley from Espanyol during the summer transfer window with a price tag of £2.6 million. He broke his goal-scoring duck last week in a resounding 5-0 victory over Sheffield United – a clash between two teams at the bottom of the table.

“We are determined to support him throughout his recovery process and ensure that he returns fit and ready,” added Kompany optimistically. “Our priority now is safeguarding him against any long-term damage as he is still young; we want to handle his rehabilitation correctly.”

Although confident about Koleosho’s comeback being stronger than ever, Kompany acknowledged the immediate setback for Burnley’s survival hopes. “Undeniably, this is a blow for us in the short-term,” he lamented.
