Kylian Mbappe’s Future: Which Club Will the Paris St-Germain Star Join Next Season?
Is Kylian Mbappe on the move this summer?
Rumours are swirling around Paris St-Germain’s record goal scorer, with reports indicating that he may not renew his contract set to expire at the end of next season. PSG is prepared to sell the forward rather than risk losing him for free.
Kylian Mbappe has been a prolific player ever since joining PSG from Monaco six years ago. He has scored 212 goals and contributed 98 assists in 260 games, winning five league titles among his thirteen domestic trophies with the club.
He also played an essential role in France’s World Cup triumph in 2018, scoring four goals throughout the tournament. The young superstar holds several records and is fifth on his country’s all-time top scorers list with 38 goals in only sixty-eight appearances.
The possible destinations
Mbappe looked destined to sign for Real Madrid last year but chose instead to accept a lucrative new deal and remain at PSG. However, there are still speculations regarding which team will land him this time around.
Real Madrid
The departure of fellow Frenchman Karim Benzema means Real Madrid is now looking for a striker, and Tottenham’s Harry Kane seems to be their preferred choice. But will they make another attempt at signing Mbappe? Carlo Ancelotti’s side have already made one statement signing this summer by landing England midfielder Jude Bellingham for €103m (£88.5m), so maybe financing another big acquisition isn’t off the table yet.
Manchester United
The Red Devils are reportedly chasing after a talisman player this summer that could boost their squad significantly. Still, uncertainty remains about their future ownership – Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are waiting to see if their offers to buy the club will be accepted by the Glazer family.
Saudi Pro League
Several leading Saudi Arabian clubs were recently taken over by the country’s Public Investment Fund, which also owns Newcastle United. Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo moved to Al Nassr in 2021, becoming one of the world’s highest-paid athletes with an annual earning of $136m (£108.7m). Now that his former Real Madrid teammate Karim Benzema has also joined him in Saudi Arabia, could Mbappe be tempted to follow suit?
While Mbappe is undoubtedly a talented player who would fit into any team well, it remains uncertain where he’ll end up this summer. One thing for sure is that many fans around the globe can’t wait for his next move!
