    Magnus Sheffield discharged from hospital following a high-speed crash at the Tour de Suisse

    Tour de Suisse Cyclists Involved in High-Speed Crash

    During stage five of the Tour de Suisse, a high-speed crash occurred leaving American Magnus Sheffield hospitalized. The Swiss rider Gino Mader was also involved in the accident and sadly passed away on Friday at the age of 26.

    The incident happened as riders were descending from the Albula Pass through the Swiss Alps. Sheffield is now recovering after suffering a concussion and soft tissue damage.

    Ineos Grenadiers confirmed that their rider will be returning home to rest and recover following his discharge from hospital. However, they also expressed their condolences for Mader’s family, friends and colleagues at Team Bahrain Victorious during this difficult time.

    The scheduled race on Friday was cancelled due to the tragic event but restarted with subdued spirits on Saturday for stages seven and eight which went ahead as planned. During stage seven, Road Race World Champion Remco Evenepoel took first place whilst pointing towards the sky across Weinfelden finish line while Denmark’s Mattias Skjelmose remained in overall lead position.
