Manchester City’s Chairman Khaldoon al-Mubarak expresses frustration over questions about their chances of winning the Treble

Shadows cast over Manchester City’s historic Treble

In the world of sports, one team that has recently been in the headlines is Manchester City. The club achieved a remarkable feat by becoming only the second English team to achieve a treble after Manchester United in 1999. However, their achievements have been overshadowed by financial fair play charges which were brought against them.

The charges include breaching numerous financial regulations and have left many fans frustrated. Despite this, Chairman Khaldoon al-Mubarak insists that people should focus on their football and what they are achieving on the pitch rather than these charges.

    “Judge them for their football”

“What these players have achieved this year, the Treble, is incredible,” says Khaldoon al-Mubarak. “I hope people focus and judge them for their football and what they’re achieving on the pitch and what they’re achieving in every competition they’re in.”

These words from the chairman highlight just how much hard work has gone into making Manchester City successful not just domestically but also internationally.

    Over 100 alleged rule breaches

The club currently faces more than 100 alleged rule breaches between 2009 and 2018 which are being referred to an independent commission for review. Manager Pep Guardiola has also expressed his desire to see these matters dealt with immediately so that everyone can move forward.

“It’s very frustrating because it takes so much from the great work that’s happening at this club,” said Khaldoon al-Mubarak during an end-of-year interview. “The club as a whole is well run – very well run.”

    Awaiting the outcome

Despite his frustration, Khaldoon al-Mubarak could not comment further on these charges due to legal reasons. He did mention that he has very strong views on the matter but will only express them once the proceedings are over.

“I can’t talk about them (the charges) unfortunately for legal reasons,” he said. “These are proceedings that take whatever time they take and when we’re done, I’ll give you my very blunt views.”

    The future of Manchester City

Regardless of what happens next, there is no denying that Manchester City has been a dominant force in football for many years now. With their exceptional team and management staff who have worked tirelessly to get where they are today.

If anything positive comes out of all this controversy surrounding financial fair play rules allegations against Manchester City it would be that it serves as a reminder to other football clubs worldwide to stay vigilant with their finances and always ensure that they comply with regulations set by governing bodies.
