Mikel Arteta Urges Aaron Ramsdale to Continue at Arsenal and for England

Arsenal Manager Arteta Insists Ramsdale Is Staying Despite Losing Starting Spot

In a surprising turn of events at Arsenal, manager Mikel Arteta has made it clear that England international goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale will remain with the club despite losing his starting position to David Raya.

Raya, who joined on loan from Brentford in the summer, has managed to outshine Ramsdale and secure the number one spot in goal for now. This unexpected change has raised speculation about Ramsdale’s future at the club, with rumors linking him to Newcastle.

However, Arteta quickly put an end to any doubts by stating firmly that he wants Aaron with them. He expressed satisfaction with having two exceptional goalkeepers and confirmed that there are no plans for Ramsey’s departure.

“We want to be better,” explained Arteta when asked about potential signings. “So we want to add to what we already have.”

The decision comes as a surprise considering Ramsdale’s previous performances for Arsenal. Last season, he started all 38 Premier League fixtures and played a crucial role in their title challenge against Manchester City.

At the beginning of this season, he was also given the nod as first-choice goalkeeper but lost his place after just four league games. Since then, his playing time has been limited mainly to cup competitions.

    The Newcastle Factor

Newcastle United appears interested in securing Ramsey’s services due to their current goalkeeper predicament. With Nick Pope suffering a suspected dislocated shoulder, the Magpies are in need of reinforcements. Moreover, Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has previously worked with Ramsey during their time at Bournemouth.

However, Arteta refused to rule out any possible transfers in the upcoming January window when questioned about Ramsdale’s future.

“I cannot guarantee that nobody is going to be leaving,” said Arteta. “For Newcastle or any other club.”

While Ramsey’s situation remains uncertain, Arteta maintained his stance on wanting him to stay and reiterated the intention of improving the team by adding to their existing squad.
