Northampton Saints’ Hooker Tom Cruse Commits to Contract Extension

Northampton Saints Retain Hooker Tom Cruse for Extended Period

In a move that will undoubtedly please fans of the Northampton Saints, the Premiership club has announced that they have extended their contract with hooker Tom Cruse. The 34-year-old was initially signed on a deal until the end of the 2022-23 season after joining from Edinburgh in January.

Cruse made nine appearances for Northampton during his debut season and impressed enough to earn only his second start in their play-off semi-final defeat by Saracens. Speaking about his extension, he stated, “We’ve got a very strong group of hookers at the Club, with everyone learning from each other and driving each other forward.”

The experienced hooker began his career at Sale before spending time with Rotherham and London Irish before ultimately moving to Wasps where he stayed for six years. He then moved to Scotland last November following Wasps’ administration but found himself drawn back to England’s top flight due to being away from family.

No specific details regarding Cruse’s new contract have been disclosed as yet by Northampton Saints. However, director of rugby Phil Dowson expressed confidence in having one of the strongest hooking line-ups in the Premiership going into future seasons: “With Tom signed up alongside our current hookers already committed through 2023-24 season we are confident we have one of the strongest and deepest line-ups.”

This is great news for supporters who’ll be excited about what lies ahead next season.
