A New Home for Chunya Munga After London Irish’s Suspension and Administration
In a surprising move, Northampton Saints have announced the signing of lock Chunya Munga following the recent demise of their Premiership rivals, London Irish. The 22-year-old made over 50 appearances for the club before it was suspended from competition last week due to financial difficulties that led to administration.
Munga expressed his gratitude towards his former team and its supporters saying,” I cannot thank the coaches, players, on and off-field staff, and all the supporters at London Irish enough for everything they have given me. I couldn’t have got to this position without all of them.”
The former England Under-20 international shared how challenging it has been in recent weeks but considers himself one of the lucky ones who found a new home straight away with Northampton. Speaking about his future with Northampton Saints he said,” I’m very grateful and excited to be able to focus on playing rugby again within a team environment.”
Moving Forward with Confidence: Chunya Munga Joins Northampton Saints
Having gone through an uncertain period after leaving London Irish, Chunya is confident about joining Franklin’s Gardens as he sees this as an opportunity to put in all his energy into helping the team succeed. He revealed that speaking with Phil Dowson and James Craig had convinced him that choosing Northampton would be best for him since there was no other offer from any other side where he felt such passionate interest.
“I am looking forward to being part of this great club and contributing to its success. For me, it’s all about playing my best rugby and helping the team win,” he said.
The acquisition of Chunya Munga by Northampton Saints is a significant boost for the club as they prepare for the upcoming season. With his experience in top-flight rugby, he will be an asset to their squad and help them achieve their goals.
