Pedro Acosta Secures MotoGP Future with KTM for 2024 Season

Pedro Acosta Rejects Contract Clause to Stay with KTM

Spanish rider Pedro Acosta has decided to stay loyal to Austrian brand KTM by fulfilling his contract until the end of 2024. The deal includes an escape clause that would have allowed him to leave if he wasn’t offered a spot in MotoGP next year, but he’s ruled out activating it.

KTM’s Opportunity and Gratefulness from Pedro Acosta

“We want to give KTM the first opportunity to go up to MotoGP with them, beyond the options contemplated in the contract,” said Albert Valera, Acosta’s manager. “KTM has always been very good to Pedro, and he is very grateful.”

This decision now puts pressure on KTM as they must create an opening for their young Spaniard in its MotoGP ranks for next year. Prior plans had suggested keeping him in Moto2 before promoting him at a later date, but consecutive wins at Mugello and Sachsenring have convinced KTM otherwise.

A Perfect Timing for Promotion into MotoGP?

The management sees this as the perfect time for promotion into MotoGP with KTM, giving back trust along since joining its official team last year after being champion during 2021 Motor3 World Cup edition.

    KTM’s Options

With the factory team race seats already occupied by Brad Binder and Jack Miller, who are both under contract until the end of 2024, KTM has two clear options: place Acosta into its GasGas Tech3 satellite team at the expense of either Pol Espargaro or Augusto Fernandez. Another option is gaining two new grid slots from MotoGP to create a second satellite team for Acosta and another rider.

Only time will tell what decision KTM takes, but with Pedro Acosta staying true to his word in fulfilling his current contract, we can expect great things to come from this young talent in years ahead.
