Roma Manager Mourinho Faces Uefa Action for Referee Rant

Jose Mourinho’s Foul-Mouthed Rant Could Land Him in Hot Water with UEFA

Roma manager Jose Mourinho is on the verge of facing action from UEFA after a foul-mouthed tirade at referee Anthony Taylor following his team’s defeat to Sevilla in the Europa League final. The governing body will wait for reports from match officials and delegates before taking any decision.

Mourinho, who was booked during an ill-tempered game, criticised Taylor in his post-match conference before being caught on camera ranting at him as he boarded a mini-bus under the stadium. The Portuguese boss repeatedly swore and made pointed comments about what he perceived to be unfair treatment by Taylor.

However, it wasn’t only Mourinho that found himself crossing the line during Thursday night’s encounter. A total of thirteen players received yellow cards, including seven Roma players – marking a record for bookings in a Europa League final. Fourth official Michael Oliver struggled to keep control as tempers flared throughout the match which saw over 25 minutes of injury time played across four halves.
