Sale Sharks Sign England’s Morwenna Talling for 2023-24 Premier 15s Campaign

England rugby union international, Morwenna Talling has been signed by Sale Sharks to participate in the upcoming Premier 15s campaign of 2023-24 after leaving Loughborough Lightning.

The twenty-year-old was a member of the Red Roses squad that recently won this year’s Six Nations tournament and she has earned seven caps for her country. Nikita Prothero, her former teammate at Loughborough Lightning will also be joining her at Sale Sharks.

    A New Challenge

Talling expressed excitement about her new challenge with Sale Shark Women stating “I’ve been at Loughborough since the start of my rugby journey and I decided it was time for a new challenge.” She added that moving closer to home played an important role in making the decision as she wants to play an active part in growing women’s rugby up north.

Building Something Special on and off The Pitch

Talking about how special something is building on and off pitch at Sale Sharks Women, Talling said she wanted to be a part of that. “Sale Sharks Women have had a great season and you can tell something very special is building here on and off the pitch. I really wanted to be a part of that.”

    Excitement About Working with Nikita

Detysha Harper will join up with Talling as they both represent Red Rose in Sale Shark’s Women team for the upcoming Premier 15s campaign while Nikita Prothero comes over from Loughborough Lightning where she made five league appearances along with six cup games. The young flanker has already played four times for England Under-20s.

Performance Coach Rachel Taylor spoke highly about Prothero stating, “Nikita is a really exciting young player too and she’ll add real competition and quality to our squad. She has so much versatility,” Taylor continued, “She has the speed of a winger and the physicality of a back-rower, and we’re really excited about working with her.”
