Scotland lock Alex Craig signs with Scarlets for 2023-24 season

The Welsh professional rugby team, Scarlets, has announced the signing of Scotland lock Alex Craig from Gloucester for the 2023-24 season. This comes as a big boost to the struggling team during these difficult times.

Scarlets have had to cut costs and have lost some valuable players such as Lewis Rawlins, Tom Price, and Aaron Shingler among other departures. The addition of twice-capped Craig will bring international quality to their pack.

Craig is excited about his “fresh start playing in an exciting competition that is the URC [United Rugby Championship]”. He believes that joining Scarlets will provide him with new opportunities and challenges.

Scarlets boss Dwayne Peel welcomes Craig’s athleticism and versatility on board saying: “I’m looking forward to seeing him play and it’s been great welcoming him to Parc y Scarlets for our first day back.”

In addition to signing Alex Craig, Scarlets also signed versatile Wales back Ioan Lloyd, wing Tomi Lewis as well as Loughborough University students Teddy Leatherbarrow and Charlie Titcombe who are all set to join them following those 15 departures.

This bold move by Scarlets shows their commitment towards building a strong squad ahead of next year’s campaign. Fans can look forward in anticipation towards what promises to be an exciting new chapter in Welsh professional rugby.
