Stephen Kenny unfazed by rumors surrounding his future with the Republic in Euro 2024 qualifiers.

Republic of Ireland Manager Stephen Kenny Remains Confident Despite Pressure

The Republic of Ireland manager, Stephen Kenny has affirmed his confidence in his position ahead of their Euro 2024 qualifier game against Gibraltar. The pressure is mounting on the team after two losses and no points so far.

    Kenny’s Confidence

Despite the lackluster performance by the team, Kenny remains confident he will remain in charge for the rest of the campaign.

“Yes, I definitely do,” he said when asked if he expected to be in charge for the remainder of the campaign.”

Kenny is focused on obtaining a positive result against Gibraltar and plans to make some changes during gameplay. Wigan midfielder James McClean will wear the captain’s armband as he wins his 100th cap.

    The Road Ahead

Although there are reports that Kenny could be replaced following their defeat in Greece last Friday, he remains adamant about leading them through this qualifying round.

“My contract is up to end of campaign and whether it’s renewed will depend on how people feel overall but certainly I fully expect to be [Republic manager],”

The Republic have won all four matches they’ve played against Gibraltar with an aggregate scoreline reading 14-0. With Group minnows sitting at rock bottom, anything other than winning would mean disaster for Team Ireland’s hopes at European Championship qualification according to Kenny:

“In terms of European Championship qualification, yes it is unthinkable,” replied Kenny when questioned if anything less than victory over a team ranked 152 places below Ireland was acceptable.
