    Bordeaux Striker Alberth Elis Suffers Serious Head Injury

    On a fateful Saturday night, Bordeaux striker Alberth Elis found himself in the grips of adversity as he collided with an opponent, leading to a grave head injury. The collision occurred merely 40 seconds into the French Ligue 2 match against Guingamp, where Ellis clashed heads with defender Donatien Gomis.

    The game came to a sudden halt for eight agonizing minutes while the Honduras international was carefully carried off on a stretcher. Reports indicate that Elis is now hospitalized and in an induced coma undergoing further examinations.

    Gomis bravely soldiered on to complete the remaining match despite the haunting collision. Reflecting on the incident, Gomis shared his perspective stating, “I think he [Elis] hits the ball first, I hit him. For a second, I was also in a daze. He lost consciousness. I hope he gets better.”

    Uncertain Road Ahead for Alberth Elis

    French newspaper L’Equipe disclosed that Elis was placed in an induced coma during his transfer to Pellegrin hospital in Bordeaux and underwent surgery later that same evening although confirmation from Bordeaux is still pending.

    A prominent figure with 64 caps for Honduras along with 13 goals under his belt; after departing from MLS side Houston Dynamo following three fruitful years there, Ellis made his mark across European shores journeying through Boavista before landing at Bordeaux. Since joining Bordeaux back in 2021, Eliz has displayed fine form by netting 15 goals over 60 appearances for tthe club.
