Aston Martin Joins the Ranks with Sauber and Williams

Aston Martin becomes the fourth team in Formula One to announce their launch date for the 2024 season. Sauber and Williams are scheduled for earlier reveals on 5 February, followed closely by Ferrari’s new car presentation on 13 February.

Fernando Alonso Urges Improvement in Consistency and Straightline Speed

Two-time F1 world champion Fernando Alonso has expressed his desire for Aston Martin to address key areas of improvement with their forthcoming AMR24 challenger.

“It’s crucial that we find consistency in our performance. One of the weaknesses we faced was the narrow operating window of the car, which affected its overall competitiveness,” Alonso stated.

Alonso emphasized the need for stable performance throughout the season, aiming to overcome challenges posed by ground-effect cars that are particularly sensitive to adjustments. He believes finding a consistent level will be key next year.

In addition to consistency, Alonso highlighted straightline speed as an area requiring improvement:

“Our weak point, in terms of performance numbers, has been our lack of pace on straights. In order to match our competitors’ speeds, we had to sacrifice rear downforce and consequently struggled in corners as well. It became a loop that hindered us this season.”

    Aston Martin’s Season Journey

The team showcased strong tyre management and made strategic calls throughout the 2023 season. Starting off promisingly as Red Bull’s closest contender during early races, Aston Martin encountered setbacks mid-season.

Reports suggest that technical changes made due to a flexible front-wing removal impacted their performance negatively. Additionally, reverse-engineering parts for use on their AMR23 model disrupted Aston Martin’s progress leading up to 2024.

Sauber Launches C44 Creation in London
