In a surprising turn of events, Bayern Munich has confirmed that Sadio Mane is currently engaged in discussions regarding a possible transfer. The 31-year-old Senegal forward has received an offer to join the Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr.

Mane had been part of Bayern’s pre-season tour of Asia but was notably absent from Saturday’s friendly match against Kawasaki Frontale in Tokyo. A spokesperson for the club stated, “Sadio Mane is in contract talks ahead of a possible transfer and so is not included in today’s squad.”

This news comes just one year after Mane joined Bayern Munich last summer, following his £35 million move from Liverpool. Despite scoring 12 goals in 38 appearances and contributing to Bayern’s 11th consecutive Bundesliga title triumph, he experienced a decline during the season.

Rumors circulated about an incident involving teammate Leroy Sane, with reports suggesting that Mane punched him following their Champions League defeat against Manchester City in April. As a result, he was subsequently dropped from the squad and fined by the club.

Al-Nassr has recently made several high-profile signings, including five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo and Croatia midfielder Marcelo Brozovic. They have also secured Brazil full-back Alex Telles and Ivory Coast midfielder Seko Fofana this summer.
