Chelsea Reach Agreement to Acquire Monaco and French Defender Axel Disasi

Chelsea to Sign Defender Axel Disasi from AS Monaco

In a surprising move, Chelsea Football Club has reached an agreement to acquire the services of talented defender Axel Disasi from AS Monaco for a staggering fee of 45m euros (£38.57m). This unexpected signing will undoubtedly bolster Chelsea’s defensive options and provide much-needed cover following Wesley Fofana’s unfortunate injury.

Fofana, who was originally the go-to right-sided center-back for Chelsea, is now facing several months on the sidelines after undergoing anterior cruciate ligament surgery. With Benoit Badiashile also currently nursing an injury and unlikely to be fit before the start of the Premier League season, this acquisition couldn’t have come at a better time for Chelsea.

The London club currently relies on experienced defenders like Thiago Silva, Trevoh Chalobah, and Levi Colwill – who has attracted interest from Brighton – in their quest for defensive stability. However, with Disasi’s arrival imminent, these players may face increased competition for starting berths.

Axel Disasi began his professional career at Stade de Reims before making a high-profile move to AS Monaco in August 2020. Since then, he has amassed an impressive tally of 118 appearances for the Ligue 1 side. The Frenchman has already earned four caps for his national team and made his full international debut during France’s World Cup defeat against Tunisia last November.

Disasi will become Chelsea’s third signing this summer alongside forwards Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku as new manager Mauricio Pochettino aims to reshape his squad following Frank Lampard’s departure.

Furthermore, there are reports suggesting that Rennes midfielder Lesley Ugochukwe is closing in on a £23.2m transfer to Stamford Bridge. However, it is speculated that Ugochukwe may be sent on loan to Ligue 1 side Strasbourg due to Chelsea’s ownership group recently acquiring a majority stake in the club.

Chelsea fans are undoubtedly excited about the prospects of their revamped squad under Pochettino. Several high-profile departures, including Mateo Kovacic, Edouard Mendy, Kalidou Koulibaly, N’Golo Kante, Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ethan Ampadu and former captain Cesar Azpiliceuta have marked this summer transfer window as one of significant change for the Blues.

The football world eagerly awaits Chelsea’s next moves as they continue to surprise both fans and pundits alike with their ambitious signings and strategic maneuverings.
