    The team showcased impressive batting skills as Shivam Dube added quickfire 22 runs, while Ravindra Jadeja finished unbeaten on an impressive score of 20 not out leading them to post an imposing total score of 223-3. With no chance left for making it into playoffs now, Delhi Capitals were reduced to mere spectators; only managing meager scores with England’s Phil Salt being dismissed for three by Deepak Chahar who finished with figures of three wickets for twenty-two runs.

    Captain David Warner tried his best but could not make much difference despite hitting twelve boundaries including five sixes during his 86-run knock. But when he was caught off Matheesha Pathirana in the 19th over, it became clear that the game was already gone.

    Lucknow’s Thrilling Victory Over Kolkata Knight Riders Secures Their Place

    The second match of the day proved to be a nail-biting experience as Lucknow Super Giants managed to secure their place in playoffs by beating Kolkata Knight Riders in a thrilling one-run victory. The home side appeared to have things under control for most of the innings until Rinku Singh smashed 67 from just 33 balls including three boundaries on the final three balls, making them come close to chasing down Lucknow’s target score of 176-8.

    However, Jason Roy who had built early momentum with his quickfire forty-five before being bowled out by Krunal Pandya gave way for Rinku at crease with a scorecard reading eighty-two runs for three wickets. The Indian batter slowly reeled off runs and then scored an impressive twenty runs off penultimate over followed by sixteen more from last but unfortunately fell short by just one run leading Lucknow team into rejoicing moments.

    What’s Next?

    The IPL playoffs promise even more excitement and drama as Chennai will play against table-toppers Gujarat Titans while Lucknow goes through to face fourth-placed team in eliminator round. Qualifier One is set for Tuesday, May 23 which will see Gujarat taking up against Chennai; winner advancing directly into finals scheduled on Sunday May28th . Eliminator between Lucklow and yet-to-be-determined opponent takes place next day (Wednesday).

    Incoming weekend matches are crucial too; Mumbai Indians take Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday morning hoping they win big so as go ahead of Royal Challengers Bangalore who have a match on Sunday evening against Gujarat. While Rajasthan Royals need Mumbai and Bangalore to lose in order to keep their hopes alive.
