ElectroNic reveals the reasons behind stepping down as Cloud9’s in-game leader in CS2

C9’s ElectroNic Opens Up About His Time as In-Game Leader and Why It Didn’t Work Out

In a surprising turn of events, Counter-Strike player electroNic has revealed the reasons behind his short-lived tenure as in-game leader for Cloud9.

ElectroNic was initially brought on board in July to take over the team’s leadership from nafany. However, after a series of disappointing results, C9 decided to switch things up and appointed HObbit as the new IGL. Eventually, Boombl4 took over the reins in November.

The exact reasons for electroNic not working out as captain were not disclosed until recently. During an interview with HLTV at the BLAST Premier Fall Final’s opening day on November 22nd, electroNic finally shed some light on the matter.

“I think the mood in the team is a bit better right now than it was in the old roster,” said electroNic candidly. “I’m probably not cut out to be an IGL or captain within a team; it just isn’t my forte. The issue lies with my highly emotional nature which makes it difficult for me to effectively lead.”

During his short stint as Cloud9’s IGL, electroNic took charge at prestigious tournaments such as IEM Cologne and Gamers8 in August, as well as the ESL Pro League season 18 in September. Unfortunately, the team failed to make it past the semifinals in both IEM Cologne and Gamers8, while they couldn’t advance beyond the group stage in the Pro League.

Prior to joining Cloud9, electroNic had enjoyed success with Natus Vincere between May 2022 and July 2023. He proved himself as a competent IGL during this period and even led his team to victory at the BLAST Premier Spring Final held in June 2022.

Since being relieved of his captaincy duties within C9, electroNic can now focus solely on fragging and contribute with mid-round calls. His performance against NAVI at the BLAST Premier Fall Final on November 22nd showcased his prowess as he secured an impressive 62 kills while only dying 42 times across three maps.
