England Lock Rowena Burnfield Signs with Ealing for Inaugural Season in Premier 15s

50-Cap England International Becomes Third Signing of Newly Formed Ealing Side Ahead of Top-Fight Campaign

In a move set to shake up the rugby world, second-row powerhouse Rowena Burnfield has announced her switch from Harlequins to join newly-formed women’s side Ealing ahead of their debut season in the Premier 15s. The experienced forward brings with her an impressive tally of over fifty appearances for the national team since making her debut back in 2015.

“I’m thrilled to have someone of Row’s quality and experience joining Trailfinders for our first year in the Premier 15s,” said Giselle Mather, director of women’s rugby at Ealing. “The leadership she has displayed in every environment she has been in and the knowledge she has gained will also be invaluable to the whole squad, as we bond as a group and install our own culture and standards among the team.”

Burnfield becomes one of three internationals signed by Ealing ahead of their debut campaign, joining the likes of former Wasps ace Hannah West and Exeter Chiefs prop Steph Keenan.

A Look at Rowena Burnfield’s Career

Burnfield began her rugby journey with local side Thurrock RFC before being spotted by Saracens’ scouts. It wasn’t long until she burst onto the national scene with England, making her much anticipated debut in 2015 before becoming a vital part of the squad over the years.

“It’s a great club and I think there’s a unique chance for us to build our own ethos and culture as a squad and I’m looking forward to the new opportunity as we look to make a statement within the league,” said Burnfield on signing with Ealing.
