Eric Dier’s potential move to Bayern Munich is a subject that Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou claims to have no knowledge of whatsoever

Tottenham Manager Ange Postecoglou Reacts to Rumors of Eric Dier Joining Bayern Munich

In the latest transfer news, Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has addressed speculations regarding the potential departure of England defender Eric Dier. The 29-year-old has been linked with a move to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

Dier, who has represented England 49 times, struggled to secure a regular spot in Tottenham’s starting lineup this season. According to reports from Germany, he is reportedly close to completing a transfer to Bayern Munich.

During Spurs’ recent FA Cup victory over Burnley, Dier was absent from the squad due to injury. When questioned about the rumored transfer by ITV reporters, Postecoglou claimed that he had no knowledge of any such development and emphasized that Dier was currently injured.

This response led to a heated exchange during a subsequent press conference when an Australian journalist continued probing into the matter. An irritated Postecoglou firmly reiterated that Dier missed training due to his injury and urged the reporter not question his integrity or suggest otherwise.

The Intrigue Surrounding Eric Dier’s Injury Status:

“He pulled up sore and didn’t train yesterday,” declared Postecoglou defensively towards persistent questioning. “It’s a separate issue mate; do not question my integrity. When I say he’s injured, he’s injured.”

Postecoglou further clarified his stance, stating that if Dier was not injured, he would have simply stated that the player was not selected. He emphasized that his focus had been solely on preparing for the game and managing the available squad members, with any potential transfers being of no concern to him.

If Eric Dier were to join Bayern Munich, he would reunite with former Tottenham teammate Harry Kane who made a high-profile move to Germany last summer and has been in stunning form ever since.

Since joining Tottenham from Sporting Lisbon in 2014 for £4m, Dier has gone on to make 274 Premier League appearances for Spurs. However, this season he has struggled for regular playing time despite injuries to other defensive options within the squad.

    Evaluating Postecoglou’s Perspective:

Former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson provided insight into Postecoglou’s decisions regarding team selection: “It’s massive for him but you can quite clearly see he’s not part of Ange’s plans,” said Robinson reflecting on how Dier hasn’t featured prominently even when other center-backs were unavailable due to injury or suspension.

Tottenham currently sits fifth in the Premier League standings and their next match will be an away fixture against Manchester United on January 14th. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich is vying for their twelfth consecutive Bundesliga title as they trail league leaders Bayer Leverkusen by four points with a game in hand.
