Alonso Criticizes F1 for Negativity

Fernando Alonso, the two-time Formula 1 World Champion, stated that the sport is “very easy from the couch” in response to allegations that his team could have won at Monaco last weekend. The Spanish driver believes that changing intermediate tires rather than slicks after pit stop may have given him a chance at winning.

However, he also adds that what he dislikes about F1 is its focus on negativity and lack of appreciation for teams’ valiant efforts during challenging moments. Instead of acknowledging everyone’s hard work, one team’s wrong decisions are more highlighted and criticized.

In the recent Grand Prix race held in Monaco over the weekend, Alonso finished second only to Max Verstappen driving for Red Bull Racing. Although many analyses suggest that Aston Martin might have won if they had opted for intermediate tiers when it started raining earlier on some parts of the track.

The rain caused issues with tire choices as conditions worsened quickly after leaving pits forcing drivers back into pits again within just a few laps because wet-weather tires were better suited due to unforeseeable weather changes.
