G2 recruits nexa as a replacement for jks on CS2 team

G2 Welcomes Back Nemanja “nexa” Isaković

In an unexpected turn of events, the Serbian CS:GO player Nemanja “nexa” Isaković has returned to G2 after a long hiatus. Confirming this on November 21st, the organization made it official that nexa will be replacing Australian rifler Justin “jks” Savage in the active lineup with immediate effect.

Speculations had been rife ever since HLTV reported on November 9th that G2 was benching jks. Many believed that nexa would be his replacement, especially considering he was one of the players being considered for the role. While initially expected to serve only as a pure rifler and take over jks’ duties, there were whispers within the community suggesting that nexa might eventually regain his position as G2’s in-game leader (IGL), potentially leading to Rasmus “HooXi” Nielsen’s departure from the team. However, according to nexa himself, this seems unlikely.

Taking to Twitter, nexa expressed his gratitude for returning as a rifler and stated how thrilled he is to have this opportunity alongside some of the best players in the game.

“Starting a new chapter in my career as a rifler and grateful for the opportunity to do it alongside some of the best in game,” tweeted Nexa upon joining back G2 Esports.#G2ARMY #CSGO

The jks-nexa swap comes shortly after an offer from Falcons was declined by NiKo, who is a prominent member of G2’s CS:GO division. It was reported that G2 and the Saudi organization had already reached an agreement on the transfer. Additionally, Falcons also expressed interest in acquiring m0NESY from G2, but it appears that he is not for sale at any price according to G2’s general manager Petar “peca” Marković.

G2 has experienced some turbulence within their CS:GO division recently due to roster uncertainties. However, despite this, they have had their most successful year in Counter-Strike esports so far. With the addition of jks and HooXi in August 2022, they emerged victorious at the BLAST Premier World Final in December 2022 as well as IEM Katowice in February and IEM Cologne in August. During nexa’s previous stint with G2 (May 2019 – January 2022), alongside players like NiKo and huNter-, he led them to a remarkable second-place finish at the PGL Stockholm Major held in November 2021.

As for nexa’s debut with his renewed partnership with G2, there is currently no confirmed date other than their participation scheduled for the BLAST Premier World Final between December 13th and 17th; however, there is a possibility of online tournaments before then.
