It began when Darren Gough, the county’s managing director of cricket, heard about an exceptional leg-spinner named Chohan through his son Liam. Liam informed his father about an outstanding performance by a seemingly unpickable leggie from Geddington during a Northamptonshire Premier League match.

Months later, fate intervened during England’s T20 preparations at Loughborough University. As several Test squad members were in need of net bowlers, Chohan found himself bowling to none other than Joe Root for hours on end. Incredibly star-struck yet motivated by this opportunity, he left quite an impression on Root.

Inspired by Root’s recommendation and fueled by determination, Chohan pursued his dream relentlessly despite initially forgetting to leave his contact details behind. His previous experience playing National Counties cricket for Berkshire under Tom Lambert also proved instrumental in catching Yorkshire’s attention.
