Juventus Extends Full Backing to Nicolo Fagioli Following Betting Violations

Juventus Offers Full Support to Midfielder Nicolo Fagioli Following Betting Ban

Italian football club Juventus has expressed its unwavering support for midfielder Nicolo Fagioli after he received a seven-month ban for breaching betting rules. The 22-year-old player was handed a 12-month ban, with five months suspended, as well as a fine of €12,500 (£10,850) due to his involvement in gambling activities.

In response to the ban, Juventus stated their commitment to providing Fagioli with the necessary assistance throughout his therapeutic journey. The club emphasized that they firmly believe Fagioli will approach the therapy and training process responsibly and regain his ability to compete once his disqualification period concludes.

Furthermore, it was revealed that Fagioli’s therapy plan will extend over at least six months. This measure aims to address both his gambling addiction and the violations of betting regulations set by prominent football organizations such as FIFA, UEFA, and FIGC (the Italian football federation).

The investigations into illegal sports betting practices have also encompassed other players like Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United and Nicolo Zaniolo on loan at Aston Villa from Galatasaray. Both athletes were withdrawn from Italy’s training camp this week while cooperating with authorities regarding the ongoing inquiry.

Newcastle confirmed Tonali’s involvement in the investigation conducted by the Italian Prosecutor’s Office but did not provide further details surrounding this matter.
