McLaren unveils refreshed 2024 F1 livery ahead of MCL38 debut

McLaren’s Bold Move for the 2024 Season Launch Process

In a surprising turn of events, the Woking-based team has decided to shake things up for its new season launch process in 2024. Unlike previous years where McLaren revealed both the livery and launch specification simultaneously, this time they have chosen to showcase their tweaked color scheme as a standalone unveiling.

The decision comes as McLaren aims to maximize its marketing potential during a period of relatively quiet new car launches. With February becoming increasingly crowded with team reveals, McLaren is determined to stand out from the competition.

A Fresh Look at McLaren’s Livery: A Mix of Familiarity and Innovation

The MCL38’s livery bears resemblance to McLaren’s signature look but with notable updates. The team has incorporated more orange accents on the front wing and rear engine cover, adding vibrancy to their design. Additionally, they have introduced black sidepods adorned with geometric slashes inspired by a special livery used in Singapore and Japan last year.

Gone are the light blue touches seen on their previous cars; instead, McLaren opted for a darker blue reminiscent of their pre-2022 era. This choice pays homage to one of their temporary liveries from 2023 while also harkening back to their iconic mid-2000s aesthetic through chrome driver number decals.
