In a thrilling match of The Hundred women’s competition, Alice Capsey showcased her prowess with a half-century to lead the Oval Invincibles to their maiden victory of the season.
Capsey, an England all-rounder, displayed incredible batting skills as she hammered fifty runs off just forty-one balls while partnering with captain Dane van Niekerk for a crucial sixty-one run stand. Van Niekerk also contributed significantly with a quick-fire knock of forty-two runs from twenty-three deliveries.
Despite facing some fierce resistance from Deandra Dottin who hit three towering sixes, the Manchester Originals couldn’t chase down the target set by the Invincibles. Ryana MacDonald-Gay emerged as the hero for the winning side by registering impressive figures of four wickets for just sixteen runs.
With some late wickets falling rapidly, Originals finished at one hundred and twenty-three runs for nine wickets – agonizingly close but ultimately missing out on victory by mere five runs.
