RB Leipzig demands €100m for Josko Gvardiol, a Manchester City target.

The Latest on Manchester City’s Transfer Target: Josko Gvardiol

In a bid to bolster their defense, Manchester City is reportedly pursuing the talented young center-back from RB Leipzig – Josko Gvardiol. However, securing his services won’t be cheap as the German club has set an exorbitant price tag of at least 100m euros (£85.77m) for the Croatian defender.

Gvardiol’s impressive performance at last year’s World Cup caught Pep Guardiola’s attention and there seems to have been some contact between City and the player’s representatives regarding a potential transfer deal.

Despite having a release clause in excess of 110m euros (£94.35m), which can be triggered next summer, Leipzig is unwilling to let him go for anything less than their asking price this year due to his importance in their defensive setup.

    The Perfect Replacement for Laporte?

Gvardiol’s exceptional ability in the left central defensive position, whether playing in a three- or four-man defense, makes him the perfect candidate to fill the void that would be created if Aymeric Laporte leaves City.

A Busy Transfer Window for Manchester City

In addition to pursuing Gvardiol, Manchester city have agreed on a deal worth up to £30m with Chelsea FC for Croatia midfielder Mateo Kovacic. However, they also experienced a major blow when their captain Ilkay Gundogan recently joined Barcelona.
