Review of F1 23 video game: Enter a fresh (F1) universe

Unraveling the Mysteries of F1 23: Is it Worth the Hype?

As another year dawns upon us, so does a new iteration of Codemasters and Electronic Arts’ official Formula One video game. F1 23 comes with expectations to outdo its predecessor, which struggled with post-launch bugs, an excess of superfluous cars, and inconsistent handling.

The Artistic Brilliance of Braking Point

This year’s game features the continuation of Braking Point – a story mode that made its debut in F1 2021. Players can expect to see fictional racers Aiden Jackson and Devon Butler back on the track alongside several newcomers such as Davidoff Butler – Devon’s father who also happens to be the majority investor in Konnersport team – home to our two racing heroes. Also joining them is Callie Mayer; part of the Butler family tree and a Formula Two driver.

Despite initial character development for Jackson in previous iterations, his growth appears stunted this time around and often borders on being unlikeable. While still entertaining for those who enjoyed watching Drive to Survive series on Netflix, one cannot help but feel underwhelmed by what feels like unfulfilled potential within this mode or lack thereof compared to other sports franchise games like Madden NFL that have successfully created more immersive non-linear narratives within their yearly updates.

F1 World Hub: The Future is Now!

A brand-new feature that the game boasts of is the F1 World main hub, which integrates most of the game under one umbrella. It’s similar to FIFA Ultimate Team but instead of players; you earn car parts and engineering team members. The upgrades then contribute to an overall tech score that determines performance.

It goes without saying that purists might want to look away from this feature as it includes elements such as increased downforce at American tracks or reduced weight if you can set a fast first sector. But there’s no need for alarm about spending real money because purchasing Pitcoin or buying into the Podium Pass only rewards cosmetic items while XP boosts are available for those who seek advancement through in-game currency purchases.

The F1 World also comes with a new license system where players get ranked from A-D levels, and they can race opponents within their performance level any letter beneath theirs. This system also works alongside a list of achievements which unlock more features on offer in the hub – including further upgrade opportunities for your car or historical images depicting F1 legends in sticker book form!

My Team Managerial Career Mode: Business as Usual

If what excites you about Formula One is managing your own team, MyTeam managerial career mode remains largely unchanged except for some minor updates here and there.

    The Exciting Driving Experience

Fans eager to get behind the wheel will not be disappointed with this year’s driving experience! Handling has been improved dramatically since its predecessor – although still punishing poor driving practices – making F1 23 a lot more accessible to casual players. The steering wheel feedback is much better than before, and with the controller, you can make more precise maneuvers.

There’s also generally more grip thanks to higher levels of downforce; however, for those who like tweaking their racing setup, there are plenty of options available as well!

The Good and the Bad of Track Selections

New circuits added this year include Losail in Qatar and the stunning Las Vegas Strip! With Silverstone boasting tweaked kerbing changes and Barcelona-Catalunya undergoing layout adjustment for better performance – fans will love these new changes made to tracks they’ve known for years.

However – some ageing circuits such as Spa-Francorchamps feel out of place alongside these newer offerings. But if that wasn’t enough – Marina Bay is set for an update later in the year making it even tougher on drivers!
