Bus Crash Tragedy in Algerian Football

A devastating accident occurred in Algeria that has shaken the football community to its core. In a tragic bus crash on Wednesday night, a player and coach from top-flight side Mouloudia Club El Bayadh lost their lives. The national football federation (Faf) was left with no choice but to postpone all games as a mark of respect.

The incident took place when the club was en route to Tizi Ouzou for their league game against JS Kabylie. Sadly, near the city of Tiaret in north-west Algeria, the bus carrying the squad overturned, resulting in the untimely deaths of goalkeeper Zakaria Bouziani and assistant coach Khalid Muftah.

The news reached President Abdelmadjid Tebboune who expressed his deep sadness over this tragedy and offered his condolences to the families affected by this heart-wrenching event.

Mouloudia Club El Bayadh’s official social media account provided some relief amidst this dark time by informing fans that other injured team members were stable and receiving medical attention.

“Following the tragic accident which left MC El Bayadh devastated, the Algerian Football Federation has made an important decision to suspend all planned football events for this weekend,” stated an announcement posted on Faf’s website.

In addition to postponing matches across various leagues, Faf also delayed the draw for two upcoming rounds of the prestigious Algerian Cup previously scheduled for December 26th.

Prior to this catastrophe, El Bayadh had been performing reasonably well in Algeria’s Ligue 1, sitting sixth on the table with 15 points from their first ten games. However, they now find themselves grappling with grief and immense loss.
