Unintentional wave of bans occurs in CS2 due to disruptive ‘ghost’ glitch affecting gameplay

Counter-Strike 2 Update Causes Chaos with Bizarre Glitch

In a surprising turn of events, the latest Counter-Strike 2 update released in February has wreaked havoc among players due to an unusual glitch. This perplexing bug is resulting in players being booted and banned for shooting near their fallen teammates’ corpses, all because they unintentionally end up dealing “too much team damage.”

The update, which went live on Feb. 12 and was primarily aimed at fixing VOIP sound issues, introducing the new Kukri Knife, and resolving artifacts related to smoke particles, unfortunately introduced this bizarre glitch that has left many players frustrated.

Videos have surfaced showcasing this issue where players are kicked from the game and handed a hefty 30-minute competitive cooldown after damaging enemies while their teammate’s ghost hitbox remains active but invisible. Essentially, when a teammate dies and their body hits the ground, an invisible hitbox is created that registers any damage dealt through it as team damage.

It seems important to note that simply shooting your teammate’s body won’t trigger this glitch; you must actually inflict damage on an enemy while your teammate’s ghost hitbox obstructs your line of fire. While dealing excessive amounts of team damage typically results in appropriate punishment such as kicks or bans (which we can’t really complain about), these unintended consequences caused by the ruthless February glitch have understandably infuriated players.

Reports indicate that even Casual mode hasn’t been spared from this peculiar bug. Normally immune to friendly fire incidents, some players are finding themselves unexpectedly kicked from Casual matches—a truly baffling occurrence considering teammates cannot be damaged in that game mode.

The frustration surrounding the ghost hitbox bug is only exacerbated by its impact on competitive matches. Several players have been removed from Premier matches and slapped with extended suspensions ranging from 30 minutes to a week for repeat offenses. Valve, the game’s developer, has reportedly acknowledged the issue and is working on addressing these cooldowns. However, this does little to console those who have already suffered demotions in their Premier Rating due to being kicked.

While we remain optimistic that Valve will swiftly resolve this CS2 bug, it offers little solace to those who have already fallen victim to its effects. This glitch adds another entry into the growing list of game-breaking issues plaguing Counter-Strike 2 recently, including a puzzling “wallhack FPS bug” and an enigmatic “invisible player” glitch that may have influenced results during Major RMR events.

We can only hope that Valve promptly eliminates these bugs once and for all so players can enjoy a seamless gaming experience without any further perplexities or discontinuities.
