Parnasse Finally Joins UFC for Paris Debut
French lightweight Salahdine Parnasse has officially signed with UFC and will make his Octagon debut at UFC Paris on September 5 in his home country. The 28-year-old former KSW featherweight and lightweight champion is expected to face veteran Dan Hooker in the main event.
Long-Awaited Crossover After Contract Standoff
Parnasse nearly joined the promotion in 2024 but remained with KSW after receiving an offer worth 20 to 30 times less than his existing deal. His stock has risen significantly since then, highlighted by a first-round knockout on the “Rousey vs. Carano” Netflix card earlier this year that showcased his finishing ability.
Hooker enters the matchup at 36 years old looking to reverse recent momentum after losing his last two fights against top contenders Arman Tsarukyan and Benoit Saint Denis. The New Zealander had previously won three consecutive lightweight bouts from 2022 to 2024, establishing himself as a dangerous gatekeeper in the division.
The Paris main event presents a classic clash of trajectories, with Parnasse arriving at his peak while Hooker fights to prove he remains relevant among the elite. French fans will get their first look at one of Europe’s most accomplished fighters testing himself against UFC competition on home soil.
