“2023 French Open: Lloyd Glasspool and Jamie Murray Withdraw from Doubles Due to Health Issues”

British Duo Lose in French Open Men’s Doubles

In a shocking turn of events, British tennis player Lloyd Glasspool and his Finnish partner Harri Heliovaara lost to Dutchman Matwe Middelkoop and German Andreas Mies in the third round of the French Open men’s doubles. The 5th seeds were defeated 6-4 6-2 on Sunday.

With this loss, Neal Skupski is now the last Briton remaining in the men’s doubles draw at Roland Garros, after he and his Dutch partner Wesley Koolhof secured their quarter-final spot on Saturday as top seeds.

    Upset at Court 14

Glasspool and Heliovaara are regular partners but faced an upset against the twelfth-seeded pair from Germany and Netherlands. The match was held on court number fourteen.

The duo put up a brave fight but couldn’t hold off their opponents’ fierce shots for long. Skupski will now face Spaniard Marcel Granollers alongside Argentine Horacio Zeballos next – who are currently seeded tenth – while Glasspool remains in contention for mixed double titles with American partner Asia Muhammad.

Mixed Doubles Still On For Glasspool

Glasspool will play Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski with American Nathaniel Lammons next Monday for a chance to clinch victory in mixed doubles titles despite being knocked out of men’s doubles competition earlier today.

Jamie Murray Withdraws From Second Round Match Due To Illness

American Taylor Townsend had teamed up with Jamie Murray for a second-round mixed-double match; unfortunately, however, Murray fell ill due to food poisoning before playing against Gabriela Dabrowski and Nathaniel Lammons on Sunday.

It’s not the first time players have been affected by food poisoning at Roland Garros, with American Jessica Pegula mentioning in her BBC Sport column that it disrupted her preparations too.
