The highlight of this thrilling match was undoubtedly Sir Alastair Cook’s outstanding performance. The former England captain proved once again why he is one of the greatest batsmen in cricket history.
Cook smashed his second half-century of the game and brought home a much-needed century for himself as well as his team. His unbeaten score stood at 87 after yet another classy display on the field while skipper Tom Westley remained unscathed at 70 runs.
Essex ended their third day by reaching a total score of 199-1.
