Andre Fabre Takes the Lead as Mqse De Sevigne Wins Prix Rothschild

A Disappointing Day for British and Irish Raiders in Prix Rothschild at Deauville

In a surprising turn of events, the prestigious Prix Rothschild at Deauville witnessed a dominant performance from French trainer Andre Fabre and his talented duo. Historically successful in this Group One contest, Fabre once again showcased his training prowess as he led home a remarkable one-two finish with Mqse De Sevigne emerging victorious ahead of her stablemate Life In Motion.

Jockey Alexis Pouchin, who tasted victory at the highest level for the very first time, demonstrated great composure aboard the filly. The early leaders Sauterne and Kelina set a strong pace while Ralph Beckett’s Remarquee, the race favorite, traveled powerfully on the wing alongside Royal Ascot winner Rogue Millennium held up in rear.

As the closing stages approached, contenders such as Remarquee began to fade away while Fabre’s stealthily ridden pair gained momentum. Mqse De Sevigne proved to have that extra burst of energy as she triumphantly crossed the finish line in first place, leading a spectacular one-two-three sweep for France – an occasion made even more significant by their representation in the iconic colors of Baron Edouard de Rothschild.

The decision to drop Mqse De Sevigne back in trip paid off handsomely; owner Baron Edouard de Rothschild had initially campaigned her over longer distances but was convinced by Fabre to reconsider. The move proved successful on the picturesque Normandy coast, an outcome that delighted both owner and trainer.

“I think it is tremendously wonderful for the stud and all the team that work very hard, and I am delighted,” expressed Baron Edouard de Rothschild in an interview . “When Nashwa won the Falmouth Stakes, Andre Fabre called me and suggested we take a similar approach by dropping back in trip.”

Contemplating future plans, Baron Edouard de Rothschild added, “He picked out a race at the end of August, but I said no. Although entries for Prix Rothschild were already closed, we decided to supplement her entry instead. It’s a fantastic result for our team overall!”
