ToggleNew Zealand Crushes Argentina to Reach Record Fifth Rugby World Cup Final
In a stunning display of discipline and ruthlessness, New Zealand’s national rugby team, the All Blacks, secured their spot in the record books by reaching their fifth Rugby World Cup final. The seven-try demolition of Argentina at Stade de France showcased the formidable skills of Will Jordan, who scored an impressive hat-trick.
The three-time winners exhibited strong defensive tactics while relentlessly attacking their opponents. Jordie Barrett and Shannon Frizell joined Jordan on the try sheet during the first half, establishing an insurmountable lead for New Zealand. Aaron Smith added another try after halftime while Frizell found his way over the line once again. With his outstanding performance, Jordan became the leading try scorer of this year’s tournament.
The All Blacks now eagerly await either South Africa or England as they prepare for next week’s highly anticipated final match-up.
Argentina Fails to Penetrate New Zealand Defence
Despite playing in their third semi-final ever at the Rugby World Cup, Argentina struggled to gain ground against a resolute New Zealand defence. Despite enjoying possession early on in Stade de France, Michael Cheika’s side was only able to secure two Emiliano Boffelli penalties throughout the entire match.
New Zealand absorbed early pressure from their opponents before capitalizing on counter-attacks with devastating effect. While there were opportunities for them to surpass previous records with regards to winning margins in a semi-final match-ups late into this game, Richie Mo’unga opted not to pass when it seemed a fourth try was within grasp. Instead, he chose to take the ball into contact.
Argentina now has an opportunity to equal their best-ever World Cup finish from 2007 in the third/fourth place play-off against the losing side of the other semi-final match-up.
All Blacks Seek Fourth World Cup Title
New Zealand, already three-time champions at Rugby World Cups, are hungry for yet another title and could potentially become the most successful nation in tournament history. Their upcoming final clash at Stade de France presents them with a golden opportunity to secure their fourth world championship crown.
In August 2022, Argentina recorded their first away victory over New Zealand; however, going into this latest encounter at Stade de France, they were considered heavy underdogs given historical results between these two teams.
All Blacks’ Dominant Form
The All Blacks have been in scintillating form since suffering an opening game defeat against hosts France. They have scored more points and tries than any other team throughout the entirety of this year’s Rugby World Cup tournament.
Similarly, Argentina demonstrated notable improvement after initially stumbling against England during pool play. Despite starting strongly in Paris as they looked to build momentum early on through well-executed phases of play, they ultimately lacked a cutting edge in attack and struggled at crucial moments around breakdowns against their formidable opponents from New Zealand.
