Banbridge Secures Spot for Anticipated Return

Joseph O’Brien Excited for Banbridge’s Return in Coral Silviniaco Conti Chase

Renowned trainer Joseph O’Brien is eagerly anticipating the long-awaited reappearance of Banbridge in the highly-anticipated Coral Silviniaco Conti Chase at Kempton on Saturday. After a sensational novice season over fences, where he clinched three victories out of five starts, including an impressive triumph at Aintree’s Grand National meeting, expectations are high for this talented horse.

Banbridge also showcased his abilities with a Grade Two win at Cheltenham and commendable placements behind top-class competitors Mighty Potter and El Fabiolo last term. However, fans have been patiently waiting for his return since his momentous victory nine months ago on Merseyside.

O’Brien confirmed that Banbridge is set to make a comeback this weekend: “He’s an intended runner at the moment. He’s missed a couple of races earlier this season due to unsuitable ground conditions, but we’re excited about getting him started at Kempton.”

The spring has always been regarded as an optimal time for Banbridge to shine. With excellent training progress and promising results thus far, it seems like everything aligns well for his return to the racing scene. Although they will keep a close eye on the going conditions, O’Brien is hopeful that all goes smoothly during the race.

    Top-Notch Competition Awaits

Banbridge faces stiff competition among seven entries in the Grade Two event. The sponsors have marked him as joint-favorite alongside Pic D’Orhy from Paul Nicholls’ yard, who triumphed in the 1965 Chase at Ascot in his last outing.

Alan King plans to challenge with Edwardstone, a talented two-miler. Despite falling short against Jonbon in both the Shloer Chase at Cheltenham and the Tingle Creek at Sandown this season, it seems like stepping up in trip could be a viable strategy for success.

Laura Morgan is considering fielding Paddy Power Gold Cup runner-up Notlongtillmay to showcase their chances of victory. From across the Irish Sea, Willie Mullins may send Janidil as a formidable contender to represent his yard.

The list of contenders also includes Thunder Rock from Olly Murphy’s stable and Elixir De Nutz trained by Joe Tizzard.
