In a show of solidarity with the victims of the recent Belgrade school shooting, Slovenian NBA star Luka Doncic has pledged his support to pay for the funerals of eight children and one security guard who lost their lives in the tragic event. The Dallas Mavericks guard will also provide grief counseling services to classmates and staff affected by this senseless act. The tragedy occurred on Wednesday when a 13-year-old boy opened fire at Vladislav Ribnikar primary school in Belgrade, killing eight children and injuring six pupils and a teacher. While authorities have arrested the boy’s mother and father alongside him, questions remain over how such an incident could happen. Doncic expressed his heartbreak over the loss of innocent lives in Serbia due to this terrible tragedy. He added that he is committed through his charitable foundation to providing long-term support for both immediate relief measures as well as ongoing assistance for those impacted by these events. This comes even as another village near Belgrade experienced a similar attack that killed eight people while leaving 14 others injured less than two days after this first incident took place. It highlights once again how easy it can be for violence to impact communities around Europe without warning or justification.
