Olympic Champion Belinda Bencic Announces Pregnancy

In a surprising turn of events, Olympic champion Belinda Bencic has revealed that she is expecting her first child. The 26-year-old Swiss tennis player, currently ranked 14th in the world, could potentially miss the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris scheduled for July 2024.

Bencic’s last appearance on the court was at the San Diego Open in September, where she suffered a defeat in the round of 32 against Belarusian player Aliaksandra Sasnovich. However, despite this setback, Bencic took to social media to announce her pregnancy joyfully: “Expecting our little miracle soon! We can’t wait to meet you.”

This news follows in the footsteps of fellow Grand Slam champions Naomi Osaka and Angelique Kerber who both gave birth in 2023 and plan to make their comeback to professional tennis from January onwards. Additionally, Elina Svitolina returned this year after giving birth in 2022 and achieved notable success with appearances in the French Open quarter-final and Wimbledon semi-final.
