Blue Rose Cen to compete in the highly-anticipated Nassau Stakes race

French Star Blue Rose Cen set for British Debut in Qatar Nassau Stakes at Goodwood

The highly anticipated debut of French wonder horse, Blue Rose Cen is happening on August 3rd during the Qatar Nassau Stakes at Goodwood. The talented filly, owned by Leopoldo Fernández Pujals of Yeguada Centurion has won seven out of her nine outings and accomplished an impressive feat recently when she completed a rare treble at Chantilly.

The three-year-old Churchill filly effortlessly strolled to victory in Prix de Diane earlier this month after winning Poule d’Essai des Pouliches and Marcel Boussac last year. Only a few horses have achieved such success before including Zarkava, Divine Proportions, and Allez France.

    A New Challenge Ahead

This time around, Blue Rose Cen will be taking on older rivals for the first time as she steps up to an extended ten furlongs during the event. Her trainer Christopher Head expressed his eagerness regarding this new challenge stating that he still wants to encounter older fillies without getting into a new distance so they’ll keep with the distance they know best right now.

If all goes well with this race Head plans to introduce her next to Vermeille where he can assess whether or not she’s capable enough for Arc or Opera (horse). Even if she doesn’t get into these races there’s always a possibility that she may still be supplemented into the Arc. Leopoldo Fernández Pujals is well-known for being bold and daring, so it’s no surprise that he embraces challenges like these.

    Big Rock’s Future

Christopher Head also trains Big Rock for the same owner but unfortunately, he failed his Classic mission when beaten three and a half lengths by Ace Impact in Prix du Jockey Club. This was his first attempt over further than nine furlongs which led to the realization that his future now lies over a mile.

“He’s pretty much a mile horse or an 1800-metre horse,” said Head. “We will put him onto another path which is the Jacques Le Marois and probably the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes too.”
