Brighton Football Club: Solly March and Danny Welbeck face injuries, updates from Roberto de Zerbi

Solly March and Danny Welbeck Face Lengthy Absences Due to Injuries, says Brighton Manager

In a recent update from Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi, it has been revealed that both Solly March and Danny Welbeck will be sidelined for an extended period of time due to their injuries.

March, the talented winger aged 29, suffered an unfortunate incident during Saturday’s match against Manchester City. He had to leave the field on a stretcher after his knee seemingly twisted in an awkward manner.

“Unfortunately it’s a very tough injury – football is like this and injury can happen,” said De Zerbi when asked about March’s condition. The specific details of the injury were not disclosed by the manager.

Welbeck, the experienced forward at 32 years old, was substituted early in the game due to a muscle injury he sustained. Both players now join Julio Enciso, Jakub Moder, Pervis Estupinan and Tariq Lamptey as long-term casualties for Brighton.

“It’s not my job to inform you about the injury,” remarked De Zerbi when questioned further about March’s situation. “I know we’ve lost an important player for a long time but I don’t want to cry because sometimes managers do when they lose players.” The manager remained tight-lipped regarding specifics but expressed his disappointment with losing key players ahead of Thursday’s Europa League game against Ajax.

This is not the first time that Solly March has faced a lengthy lay-off. In 2015, he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury that resulted in him missing the second half of the 2015-16 season.

Despite these setbacks, Brighton remains determined to push forward and overcome their current challenges. They will need to rely on their remaining squad members and find alternative strategies to succeed in upcoming matches.
