Chaldean Considers Participation in the Sussex Stakes Race

Chaldean Could Renew Rivalry with Paddington in the Qatar Sussex Stakes

The stage is set for a potential rematch between two Classic winners, Chaldean and Paddington, at the upcoming Qatar Sussex Stakes at Goodwood.

    Previous Encounter:

Last week’s St James’s Palace stakes witnessed an exciting battle between these two horses. The 2000 Guineas winner, Chaldean was marginally favored over Irish Guineas victor, Paddington. However, despite jockey Frankie Dettori’s attempts to lead aboard Andrew Balding’s Juddmonte-owned colt and keep up with Aidan O’Brien’s charge – it wasn’t enough as they were left behind during the final stretch of the race.

The winning horse had quickened its pace leaving almost four lengths between itself and the runner-up. Despite this loss, Juddmonte’s racing manager Barry Mahon would welcome a rematch under different circumstances.

    Potential Rematch:

“He ran a great race,” said Mahon. “We look forward to taking on the winner again some day.”

In fact, O’Brien has nominated his horse for participation in Sussex stakes while Mahon also views this Group One contest as an “obvious” next port of call for Chaldean.

    About Chaldean:

A top-class horse who has already proven himself by performing well throughout his career so far. He may have lost the previous race, but this is just a minor setback. Chaldean has shown that he’s still a great horse to look forward to for the rest of the year.

    Final Thoughts:

The Qatar Sussex Stakes is sure to be an exciting event. With two talented horses like Chaldean and Paddington in contention, it’s impossible to predict who will come out on top. We’ll have to wait until August 4th at Goodwood racecourse to find out!
