Christophe Galtier, Ex-Manager of Nice and PSG, Cleared of Racism Accusations

Former Manager Christophe Galtier Acquitted of Harassment and Discrimination

In a surprising turn of events, former manager Christophe Galtier has been acquitted by a French court on charges of harassment and discrimination. The court found no evidence to support the accusations made against him during his time at Nice.

Galtier had faced allegations that he made derogatory comments about the number of black and Muslim players in his squad, as well as encouraging Muslim players to break their fast during Ramadan. However, these claims were vehemently denied by the 57-year-old throughout the trial.

The arrest occurred towards the end of his tenure at Paris St-Germain (PSG), leading to further complications for Galtier both professionally and personally.

The charges brought against him included “moral harassment and discrimination on grounds related to ethnicity, nationality, race or religion”. Prosecutors sought a one-year suspended prison sentence along with a hefty fine.

Since leaving PSG, Galtier has taken up management duties for Qatari side Al Duhail. Although absent from court when the verdict was announced in Nice courthouse, this acquittal will undoubtedly have significant implications for his future career prospects.
