Coco Gauff falls in straight sets to compatriot Madison Keys at Eastbourne International semi-finals

Tennis: Coco Gauff loses to Madison Keys in Eastbourne International semi-finals

In a surprising turn of events, rising tennis star Coco Gauff suffered a straight sets defeat at the hands of fellow American Madison Keys in the semi-finals of the prestigious Eastbourne International tournament.

The match saw Keys dominating on court, effortlessly securing a 6-3 6-3 victory over her opponent. As a result, she has earned herself a spot in Saturday’s final where she will face either Camila Giorgi or Daria Kasatkina.

This triumph marks an important milestone for Keys as it is her first win over a top-10 player on grass since claiming victory against Angelique Kerber back in 2014 at the same event held in Eastbourne.

Moving forward, Gauff will now prepare to face Sofia Kenin, currently ranked 126th in the world, in the challenging first round of Wimbledon. The young and talented athlete will undoubtedly be eager to bounce back from this defeat and showcase her skills on one of tennis‘ grandest stages.

During their match, Keys strategically took control during the fifth game with two crucial breaks that enabled her to clinch the first set. Although Gauff managed to secure an early break in the second set, her service game faltered when three consecutive double faults allowed Keys an opportunity for redemption at 2-1.

Despite facing some resistance from Gauff towards the end with three missed match points at 5-3, Key’s experience and composure prevailed as she confidently served out the match after reaching deuce.
